The Bioconjugation and Delivery group in the Protein Sciences organization at Genentech is responsible for the design and generation of new therapeutic modalities that combine the engineering and analytical principles of multiple scientific disciplines. We are excited to be at the forefront of therapeutic design by generating molecules with unique mechanisms of action. We are seeking a talented early-in-career Scientist to join our team to advance our mission by learning and applying advanced bioconjugation techniques with precise analytical characterization. This position offers hands-on experience in drug development, including protein bioconjugation.
This position is located in South San Francisco and is an on-site laboratory research position.
Key Responsibilities
- Bioconjugation of proteins utilizing chemical and enzymatic conjugation methods, including reaction design and optimization.
- Development, optimization, and implementation of purification protocols of bioconjugates using common protein purification techniques.
- Analytical characterization of reaction mixtures and purified conjugates employing chromatographic techniques (e.g. SEC, HIC, IEX), SDS-PAGE, colorimetric assays, as well as 1D and 2D mass spectrometry.
- Data reporting, interpretation of results, and data presentation to internal teams.
- Sample management of completed conjugates and related starting materials using internal inventory systems.
- Integration and implementation of high-throughout instrumentation methodologies and workflows.
- Collaboration with scientists from multiple functional and therapeutic areas at Genentech to advance molecules through the drug discovery pipeline.
Required Education:
- Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree or higher.
Required majors:
- Chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, biophysics, biology, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
Required skills:
- Basic understanding of protein analytical techniques.
- Previous experience with FPLC, HPLC or LCMS.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Other Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous hands-on experience with protein bioconjugation
This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $38.37 - $51.16/hour
