About the Job
Scientist I-II Bioprocess Scientist, Molecular Design & Development
About the Company:
Dren Bio (the "Company") is a privately held, clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of cancer, autoimmune and other serious diseases. The Company's management team and scientific advisors have profound expertise covering the discovery and development of specially engineered antibodies. Dren Bio's pipeline encompasses a multitude of programs from its two distinct, wholly-owned technologies. The Company's lead development candidate, DR-01, induces antibody-mediated killing of a specific cell type known to play a key role in various hematologic malignancies and autoimmune disorders. In addition to DR-01, the Company has launched multiple programs from its proprietary Targeted Myeloid Engager and Phagocytosis Platform, a bispecific antibody-based technology that offers a novel mechanism of action focused on selectively engaging myeloid cells (antigen presenting cells) for the targeted depletion of pathologic cells and other disease-causing agents.
Function:
Molecular Design & Development
Level:
Scientist I-II
Location:
Foster City
Reporting Manager:
Director, Molecular Design & Development
About the Opportunity:
The molecular design and development organization at Dren Bio is seeking to recruit a scientist to assess the manufacturability of new bispecific antibodies and to contribute to developing the early bioprocess for pre-pivotal clinical molecules. This role will be collaborating closely with antibody engineers and will interface with the biologics, protein sciences, and CMC groups. This is an opportunity to develop a substantially diverse skill set hands-on and to grow with the organization, and therefore we are seeking an individual with an energetic curiosity for complex molecules and their early development. The molecular design and development organization at Dren Bio is seeking to recruit a scientist to assess the manufacturability of new bispecific antibodies and to contribute to developing the early bioprocess for pre-pivotal clinical molecules. Role and Responsibilities:
- This role will emphasize purification assessment of new molecules, with extensive involvement
Upstream: CHO cell culture experiments to assess the expressability, chain-balancingand assembly of bispecific antibodies
Downstream: column chromatography to assess manufacturability of bispecifics andimpurity mapping to assess separation of product-related variants
Analytics: outcomes of bioprocess experiments will be assayed orthogonally andanalyzed for product-quality outcomes
Education, Experience and Qualification Requirements:
B.Sc or equivalent in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
5-10 years’ experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, field or a relatedprotein-science
Contributed to IND-enabling manufacturing processes (toxicological and/or clinical)
Core Competencies, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Downstream purification experience is emphasized. Required skills are columnchromatography with Akta/Unicorn systems and experience across different columnchemistries (affinity, ion exchange, HIC, multimodal) and modes (bind-elute,flow-through, overload).
Upstream cell culture experience with CHO transient or stable expression includingsterile technique with passaging, transfection and recovery harvest.
Experience analyzing product-quality and characterizing product-related withorthogonal assays including U/HPLC by sizing and reversed-phase, mass spectrometry, and capillary electrophoresis.
Salaries, Benefits and Other Employee Perks:
Dren Bio strongly believes in investing in, and rewarding, its employees. This philosophy is embodied in the Company’s total rewards program, which includes competitive cash compensation, equity incentive awards, and employer sponsored benefit offerings. The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $118,000 and $148,000 per year. At Dren Bio, pay ranges are determined by role, level(s), and location.
