About the role:
The Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease seeks a talented Scientific Grant Writer to support its faculty members in preparing, writing, and submitting grant applications, progress reports, and other fundraising materials. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help a dynamic and highly interactive group of investigators elucidate fascinating brain functions and overcome devastating neurological diseases.
What you will do:
Help identify suitable funding opportunities
Write and edit high-quality grant applications to a variety of funding agencies
Assemble and organize preliminary data, figures, protocols, and other relevant documentations
Prepare budget justifications
Ensure the timely submission of grant proposals by managing timelines and effectively interfacing with Grants & Contracts teams and subcontracted external organizations
Write/edit progress reports
Write/edit philanthropic proposals and reports
Contribute to concept and content generation for visual materials, including schematics and other illustrations
Write, organize and develop website content
Professional Development and Colleagues:
Attend leading-edge courses and scientific meetings
Work closely with creative investigators and trainees using science to overcome disease
Link up with a collaborative community of scientific writers, editors and illustrators
Network across the Bay Area and beyond
Additional Information:
Title and salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
We are open to remote or hybrid work, although at least part-time presence at the Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco is strongly preferred.

What you will need:
Ph.D. or Master’s degree
Ability to prepare comprehensive documents that are logically structured, well written and compelling
Strong record of contributing to the writing of grant applications that were funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense or major foundations supporting disease-focused neuroscience research
Experience in putting together complex center and program project grants would be a plus
Postdoctoral training in neuroscience and a strong publication record would be viewed as additional strengths

Hiring Range:
$95K-$120K
