SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD), the school psychologist assists students by screening for early intervention and identification as well as administering diagnostic and curriculum –based assessments as a member of the problem solving team. Psychologists also provide crisis intervention as well as individual and group intervention services supporting mental health issues for students, school personnel and community/family. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
• Provide screening for early intervention and identification.
• Administer diagnostic and curriculum-based assessments.
• Provide crisis, individual and group interventions as appropriate.
• Conduct professional development/training and workshops for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
• Provide consultative services related to school and problem solving in the areas of instruction and social/emotional learning and behavior.
• Assist with the coordination of community referrals, language and culture, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have been awarded from an accredited college or university a master’s degree in school psychology. Applicants must also hold a valid Type 73 State of Illinois School Service Personnel Certificate with an Endorsement School Psychology. (Note: Certificate(s) must show a current registration date.)
