School Nutrition Coordinator

Qualities of a Success Candidate:

• A genuine love for working with children and a strong commitment to their holistic development. They should prioritize the child's individuality, independence, and self-directed learning, fostering an environment that supports these values.
• The ability to guide children through their learning journey with patience, allowing them to explore and make discoveries at their own pace. They should also be flexible in adjusting their teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each child.
• Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with children, parents and other staff members. They should be able to work collaboratively, promoting a harmonious learning environment.

As the School Nutrition Coordinator, your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Enforces the school policies and procedures.
• Utilizes appropriate disciplinary procedures and techniques in accordance with the school site discipline plan.
• Responsible for all safety rules and their enforcement on school grounds.
• Have knowledge of all emergency procedures.
• Responsible for their work area. (i.e. sweeping and removing trash).
• Maintain open lines of communication with all staff.
• Be aware of and implement all site playground rules and regulations.
• Supervise and monitor students during assigned playground, hallway and lunchroom supervision periods.
• Report any unsafe playground conditions, including equipment, to the Administrator immediately.
• Keeps the school grounds free from rubbish.
• Keeps lunchroom floors in a clean and attractive condition
• Assumes responsibility for the safe condition of outdoor structures.
• Assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Administrator.

Job Goal: To ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for students during lunchtime and recess. They actively monitor the cafeteria and playground, promoting positive behavior and resolving conflicts when necessary. Their presence provides supervision and support to students, fostering a sense of security and well-being. Additionally, they facilitate engagement in recreational activities and encourage students to build social skills and friendships. By being approachable and attentive, the lunch/recess aide aims to contribute to the overall positive school experience, where students can thrive both academically and socially.

Essential Skills and Competencies: While we will consider a broad range of backgrounds, the ideal candidate would have the following qualifications/experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a clean background check.

Desired Requirements

• Knowledge and skills working with students from all backgrounds.
• Ability to work effectively with school personnel and students in a diverse school community.
• Demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Solid record of punctuality
