About the Job
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- State license or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Provides speech therapy services, as identified through each Individualized Education Program (IEP) to students enrolled at Building Connections Academy
- Writes assessment reports identifying the student’s needs and proposed treatment strategies; writes individual student goals and objectives as part of the IEP; maintains progress records; participates in the IEP meeting.
- Develops speech therapy treatment plans based on the educational goals for students to improve the student’s functional abilities within the school and naturalistic settings, in collaboration with the IEP team.
- Participates in meetings between Building Connections Academy staff and families on the appropriate implementation of programs; collaborates and coordinates speech therapy goals with the educational program.
- Provides interpretation and summaries of assessment reports to families; recommends appropriate activities and materials designed to support speech goals in the home.
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the laws and policies governing Special Education in California, particularly as they pertain to the delivery of speech therapy services.
- The employee may be required to intervene and de-escalate physical and emotional outbursts by students, including such behaviors as kicking, spitting, hitting, scratching, biting, running, and cursing; the employee must be able to run quickly for brief spurts.
- While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, move and walk at a brisk pace, sit, and use hands and arms to handle, feel, and reach.
- The position requires the ability to accompany students anywhere on school premises, including support with toileting and other basic needs.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Building Connections Behavioral Health, Inc. was founded in April of 2013 and is head quartered in Walnut Creek, CA. We focus on increasing independence for children, teens, and young adults with developmental disabilities through Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). We currently provide services across the greater San Francisco Bay Area. We provide the following services: - In home and clinic provided ABA services for individuals age 0 to 22 years. - Early Intervention services for individuals age 12 to 36 months. - Diagnostic, Developmental, and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA). - School based services including 1:1 RBTs, Functional Behavioral Assessments, and Behavioral Supports, Staff Trainings and In-Services - Parent, Family, and Caregiver Training and Education. - Classes and Training for individuals of all ages. - Social Skills Groups for clients age 3 to 21 years.
