School Based Speech and Language Pathologist
Chileda's mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavior challenges. Chileda's goal is to help students increase their appropriate social behaviors and develop independent living skills, through an enriched learning environment and individualized behavior programming. We are now accepting applications for a School Based Speech and Language Pathologist.
Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist helps students and residents of Chileda who have speech and language difficulties. This position has a heavy AAC and autism focus, but there are a wide variety of students on the caseload. Ages may range from six to twenty-one. Along with working directly with students, the SLP will also collaborate with other professionals at Chileda to ensure that a students' communication needs are met across campus.
Status Info:
This is a full-time or part-time position with hours generally Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm.
Education Requirements: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology required. Wisconsin License for Speech and Language Pathology or have obtained within one year of hire. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and attachment challenges is preferred.
Job Duties:
- Develop speech and language goals and objectives for student IEPs and treatment plans
- Monitor and chart students' progress during therapy sessions.
- Maintain visual forms of communication for students, low and high tech
- Train support staff in use of low- and high-tech visual forms of communication.
