About the Job
General Description:
As a member of the center team, help develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, creative, fun, developmentally appropriate program. The Group Leader is responsible for the operation in the absence of the Center Director. This is a forty-four-week part-time, school year position. Hours are Monday through Friday 2:30pm-6:15pm.
- Work with Center Director to develop and implement program goals and objectives.
- Develop strong, positive relationships with each child.
- Work with Center Director to develop age-appropriate activities and implement both individual and group activities, special projects and field trips.
- Work with Center Director to establish and maintain behavioral limits and classroom order.
- With Center Director guidance, communicate with parents regarding children's daily needs, interests, progress and concerns, referring parent concerns to the Center Director.
- Assist in keeping the center clean and organized.
- Drive Center van to transport children, fulfilling responsibilities as outlined in Stars Van Driver Responsibilities and Procedures.
- Assist in menu planning and food preparation and purchase.
- Assist in record keeping.
- Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and appropriate trainings.
- Develop/follow through with annual evaluation goals and training plan.
- All other assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Meet DEEC qualifications for School Age Group Leader.
- High School Diploma completed one year college and in pursuit of degree
- Commitment to completing relevant college courses.
- Two years' experience working with children in a formal setting.
- Willingness and ability to obtain MA 7D Driving License.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including full days during school vacations.
- Ability to set clear expectation and limits for children.
- High energy, warm and nurturing personality.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Hours are Monday through Friday 2:30pm-6:15pm
