About the Job
Purpose: This positions primary role is to generate and update master staff schedules for EPPA emergency departments and clinic physicians, Advance Practice Clinicians (Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner) and other health care support staff, while making adjustments as needed according to site fluctuations, absences, and planned leaves of absences to ensure appropriate staff coverage at each location. The Scheduler will report to the Scheduling & Staffing Manager.
Key Result Areas:
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- The Staffing/Scheduling Specialist must be able to produce provider work shift schedules; taking in account contract level needs, overtime, leaves of absences and staff needs
- Completes PA/NP student scheduling.
- Understand the dynamic work environment and unique staffing needs of ED health care site and clinic
- Utilizing computer software to prepare, change and update master schedule
- Prepare reports and statistics regarding providers, shifts, hours, schedules, etc
- Accountable for finding daily staffing solutions when gaps and vacancies arise.
- Assists Credentialing functions.
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required, Associates Degree a plus
- Previous medical staff scheduling strongly preferred
- Previous work skills required is typically acquired in health care organization setting

- Ability to accurately calculate staffing hours
- Working ability in use of scheduling software and other computer programs
- Ability to work independently or with others in a fast paced environment with constant interruptions
- Ability to multi-task priorities, organize, great attention to detail, and ability to use critical thinking skills and meet assigned deadlines
- Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time
- Attends and actively participates in required meetings
- Verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records
- Demonstrated competency to prepare accurate and concise reports

Equipment/Software/Systems Used:
Comfortable navigating applications and scheduling software.
Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and software issues.
Intermediate level for Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel.
Familiarity and ability to use office equipment: Copier, scanner, calculator, telephone.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are of a standard climate-controlled office environment; aspects of the job include sitting a majority of the time, occasionally standing or walking, fluorescent lighting, computer work, and other normal office conditions. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The position may require some lifting up to 20 pounds. Positions typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
A full-time employee is 40 hours per week and the employee is expected during the normal business workweek, Monday Friday.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position are subject to constant interruption and are in direct contact with employees on a professional level. Negative interactions resulting from these contacts can result in stressful situations. The position may be a high volume position and may work without direct and/or constant supervision. The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet.
