JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the administration and support of U.S. and Canadian payrolls, garnishments, reporting. Provide support to all client locations through timely and accurate payrolls.
This position will participate in the development, implementation, compliance, administration and communication of all Payroll programs at our client
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position reports to a Manager in Employed Shared Servicers and is considered a Tampa Office Center of Excellence resource and will support North American operations. The Payroll Analyst will work with all North American customer groups and business units including Tampa Office functional departments, Mills, Downstream and Reinforcing Steel, and Metallics/Raw Materials.
The qualifications for this job are:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required, areas of study in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2-4 years' experience in Payroll/analysis area(s) such as garnishments, Kronos, compensation, taxes.
• Third Party Administrator experience is a plus.
• CPP, FPC or other related certifications preferred.
• Experience with union and non-union facilities is a plus.
• Familiar with best practices, laws, requirements, and regulations impacting the administration of Payroll rules and regulations.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
• Candidates should have a fundamental knowledge of Payroll concepts, practices and procedures and a strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
• Ability to adapt to many varied situations, circumstances, and personalities at all levels within and outside the company.
• Ability to analyze large data sets, assess trends or patterns and make recommendations based on data (quantitative) and situational factors (qualitative).
• Must be able to simplify data to arrive at main conclusions, key presentation and discussion points.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Negotiation skills and the ability to communicate with leaders at all levels in the organization needed.
• Significant experience with the use of Payroll systems/relational data bases (SAP experience prefer but not required) and query/report development.
• MS office proficiency and Advanced Excel skills required.
• Ability to interpret functional and garnishment specifications.
• Ability to keep abreast of changes in Payroll-related laws, requirements, and regulations by participating in workshops, attending seminars, forums, and subscribing to information services.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ensures that all day-to-day activities associated with the management of Payroll programs and plans are efficiently and accurately administered in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and company policy, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Participate and provide support during annual/regular processes in the payroll department. Examples may include annual bonus processing, short-term incentive payouts, garnishment system updates, various reporting.
• Partner with and support field HR requests in all areas of Payroll.
• Participate in surveys and benchmarking activities that support the payroll area on a regular (i.e., annual) or ad-hoc basis.
• Assist, respond to and support audit requests from external and internal parties. Document internal processes, procedures and administration as appropriate for audit requirements. Facilitates annual audit preparation and completion.
• Develop and document internal processes and procedures to support consistency, process improvement and simplicity in the payroll area.
• Support special projects and GLN/GSN wide actions, including union negotiations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, layoffs, reductions in force and location closings or start-ups.
• Proactively identifies payroll challenges and opportunities and recommends creative and practical solutions and strategies to resolve challenges and/or capitalize on opportunities.
• Assists in the development of training / educational programs and participates in the delivery of payroll training.?
• This position will assist with and support special projects across the payroll department as needed or as appropriate. The ability to work cross functionally within Employed Shared Services is a requirement.
• Partner and work in collaboration with many cross-functional departments on various company-wide initiatives and multi-department projects.
• Ensure constant data integrity with internal systems (ex: SAP), external systems (ex: Kronos), vendor file interfaces, etc.
• Primary liaison with IT in the development, testing, implementation, and post-production review of all SAP changes and configuration requests related to Payroll.
• Acts as center of excellence for preparing complicated reports and presentations department members.
• Assists with reconciliation, payment and monitoring of vendors. This may include Accounts Payable payments, and analyzing performance standards for outside garnishment vendors.
• Develops employee payroll communications and education.
• Other duties as required.
