Sydor Optics, Inc. is a Rochester based manufacturing company fabricating flat-surfaced, precision optics for over 50 years. Our manufacturing facility is in Chili, NY just west of the Rochester International Airport. Our Sales Team works closely with customers to assist them with custom requests for a variety of markets ranging from entertainment, semiconductor, medical, military and more. Sydor Optics is seeking an individual to fill a Sales Representative role reporting directly to the Director of Sales.
Position Description
The Sales Representative is responsible for developing a new customer base by proactively reaching out to dormant customers and bringing on brand new customers.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
Associate degree in Optics, Business, or another technical field. Bachelor's degree a plus. 1-2 years' experience in sales (Optics or technology preferred).
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable with computer-based applications (MS Office Suite, CRM systems)
Essential Functions
- Actively selling and quoting opportunities to meet customer needs.
- Proactively reach out to dormant customers to re-establish a working relationship.
- Maintain positive customer relationships with the goal of continuously growing the sales portfolio.
- Build strong customer relationships, loyalty, and retention.
- Grow emerging customers while maintaining legacy customers.
- Interpret optical component drawings and prints.
- Interface with manufacturing and process engineers on processes.
- Represent Sydor Optics at trade shows.
- Work with production planning and manufacturing to ensure deadlines are met.
- Sales Forecasting.
- Support our SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations and Planning) process.
- Work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Open to occasional travel as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
- High level of cold calling companies to identify new optics projects and opportunities.
