Rate: $20-23/hour
About Us:Join the vibrant team at Radisson Portland Airport Hotel! As a dynamic Catering Sales Manager, you'll drive our catering events, from business meetings to weddings. You'll be responsible for actively soliciting, selling, planning, and overseeing all local catering events booked at the hotel. If you're passionate about hospitality and have a flair for sales, we want to hear from you. This role entails achieving monthly revenue goals and making sound business decisions to support the hotels financial and leadership goals.
Essential Functions:
- Solicit, negotiate, and book new catering accounts, including business group meetings, weddings, and social events through various channels (telephone, outside sales calls, site tours, networking, mailing, internet promotions, and written communication).
- Maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients to secure repeat business.
- Entertain and build relationships with event planners to solicit business for the property.
- Prepare and present effective proposals to close business deals.
- Determine exact requirements for each event, including food and beverage, meeting room set-ups, VIP requirements, transportation, agenda, and labor charges.
- Understand menus, hotel profit, and strategies.
- Participate in business review meetings, BEO meetings, trainings, and other catering sales-related meetings as needed.
- Oversee client functions and maintain ongoing communication with all departments to ensure client satisfaction.
- Support the sales effort of the property's catering sales program, including menu planning, direct sales activity, promotions, wedding shows, administration, and follow-up.
- Maintain good community relationships to promote the property and drive sales.
- Attend community and social events and industry meetings.
- Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, and file maintenance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Provide anticipatory service.
- Work well independently, taking initiative to achieve results with creative and forward-thinking ideas.

- Maintain good working relationships with all departments.
- Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the property Employee Handbook.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years' experience in catering and wedding sales in a hotel setting.
- College degree preferred.
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized.
- Strong administrative skills, including business writing, basic accounting, and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and skills.
- Exceptional detail in follow-through.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Must be available to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- 3-6 hours of sitting, standing/walking, reaching, and grasping.
- Up to 1 hour of pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying (up to 20 lbs.), climbing stairs, crouching/bending/stooping.
