Job Description:
- We are seeking an experienced Application Sales Engineer with previous experience selling pressure, temperature and flow instrumentation as well as controls.
- We offer a diverse range of products and services and are looking for a well rounded, knowledgeable self-starter.
- We support the region's leading industrial & utility central steam plants and power generating facilities by providing instrumentation, capital equipment, system design and field services to them.
- Sales opportunities range from large central steam plant upgrade projects to individual instrument sales.
- Large plant upgrade projects typically provide multiple sales opportunities for items such as boilers, HRSGs, low NOx burners, control systems, tanks, instrumentation and field services.
- Mid sized sales opportunities include control system retrofit projects which are often for customers that are already very familiar with our expertise and capabilities. These mid size projects are usually developed based on the sales engineer’s review and understanding of the end user’s needs.
- Smaller sales opportunities arise when our service engineers identify instrumentation or systems that require replacement for safe and efficient plant operations.
- This position requires administrative time in our Milford, CT office and time spent calling on end users, prime contractors and consulting engineers in the greater NYC and New England region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates for instrumentation and integrated control systems.
- Generate quotations, proposals and bids.
- Call on facility managers and chief engineers to assist with their needs.
- Call on consulting engineers to assist with specification development for upcoming projects.
- Call on General Contractors and Mechanical Contractors.
- Attend job walk through and pre-bid meetings.
- Coordinate regional sales activities for the national companies that we represent.
- Follow up on all opportunities.
- Secure orders.
Qualifications:
- Previous industrial sales experience selling flow, pressure, temperature and analytical instrumentation.
- Previous experience selling PLC’s, loop controllers and control cabinet components
- Detailed understanding of industrial boilers, burners and large capital equipment
- Strong computer skills for generating estimates and proposals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly.
