As part of our initiative to expand market reach and deepen customer relationships, we're seeking a dynamic and driven Sales Engineer to join our team. This role bridges engineering and business development, contributing to DTI's growth by identifying new customers, managing leads, and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will report to the Manager, Sales and Engineering, playing a critical role in driving growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement: Identify potential customers using your network and market research, schedule virtual and in-person meetings with customers, deliver impactful presentations, and maintain strong relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Engineering Collaboration: Act as a liaison between customer and internal engineers to align project requirements and capabilities.
- Project Management: Oversee the management of new and existing programs, ensuring they meet customer requirements, stay on budget, and are delivered on schedule.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, engineering, marketing, and operations teams to ensure alignment with customer needs and company goals, while supporting lead generation and marketing funnel strategies.
- Knowledge Application: Leverage expertise in plastic molding, metal stamping, and tooling to address customer challenges effectively and provide cost-optimized solutions.
- Growth Strategy Development: Collaborate with leadership to identify market opportunities, analyze competitors, and create strategic plans for expansion.
- Innovation Advocacy: Suggest new service offerings or process improvements to meet emerging customer demands and advocate for innovations to enhance DTI's capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in sales, engineering, business development, or a related customer-facing role.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in plastic injection molding, metal stamping, and tooling.
- Experience with finding new customers and closing deals.
- Exceptional presentation and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Highly motivated with a results-driven mindset.
- Analytical skills for assessing market opportunities, reviewing sales data, and optimizing customer solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CRM tools, lead management processes, and developing marketing strategies.
- Proven success in lead generation and opportunity conversion.
- Familiarity with emerging trends in manufacturing technologies.
- Business acumen, including understanding financial metrics like revenue growth and profitability.
- Connections or familiarity with key contacts in the automotive, appliance, aerospace, consumer goods, electronics, medical devices, and industrial markets DTI serves.
