Sales Engineer
Location: Hybrid, remote with 1-2 days in the Rosemont, IL office depending upon commute time.
As a Sales Engineer, you will be integral to our sales efforts, working closely with the sales team and using your technical skills to assist customers in understanding and adopting our telecommunications solutions. This position demands a mix of technical knowledge, customer relationship management, and a drive for revenue growth.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Knowledge:
- Master the technical aspects of our telecommunications products and services, explaining how they address customer needs.
Customer Interaction:
- Cultivate relationships with telecom operators, enterprises, midmarket, and SMB customers to understand their requirements, challenges, and IT goals.
Solution Development:
- Partner with product development and engineering teams to customize solutions for customers, offering technical guidance and aiding in proposal creation.
Product Demonstrations:
- Conduct engaging product demonstrations and presentations for potential clients, highlighting the advantages and features of our telecommunications solutions.
Technical Assistance:
- Offer pre-sales and post-sales technical support, addressing customer inquiries and ensuring a seamless transition from sale to implementation.
Sales Assistance:
Support the sales team by preparing and presenting proposals, quotes, and technical documentation, including Visio diagrams.
Employ effective questioning and listening skills.
Industry Awareness:
- Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and new technologies in the telecommunications sector, sharing insights to foster innovation.
Training:
- Provide training sessions for customers, partners, and internal teams on our products and services, ensuring comprehensive understanding.
Feedback Collection:
- Gather customer feedback and market analysis, communicating insights to the product development and engineering teams to drive product enhancements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering.
- In-depth product knowledge of telecommunications technologies, including DIA, SDWAN, and HPBX.
- Proficiency with whiteboard discussions.
- Experience and strong interest in market and trend analysis.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Proactive approach and willingness to voice ideas.
- Customer-focused attitude with a passion for solving challenges.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in technical sales or pre-sales support in the telecommunications industry.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCDA, or CCIE are a significant plus.
- Proficiency with keyboard engineering.
