Summary - basic function of the role
As a Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will be a vital part of our sales team, responsible for generating new business opportunities through strategic outbound prospecting efforts. You will engage with potential clients, identify their needs, and qualify leads for our sales pipeline. This role requires excellent communication skills, proactive attitude, and a strong ability to articulate our value proposition to potential customers.
Shift: Monday - Friday, hybrid 3 days in office schedule in Columbus, WI.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prospecting and Outreach
- Conduct outbound prospecting activities via phone calls, emails, and social media to generate new leads
- Research and identify potential clients within target industries or market segments
- Initiate meaningful conversations with decision-makers to understand their business challenges and needs
- Lead Qualification
- Qualify leads based on predefined criteria to determine their fit for our products/services
- Assess prospects' pain points and buying intent to prioritize follow-up actions
- Gather relevant information about prospects to facilitate smooth handoff to the sales team.
- Pipeline Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions with prospects using CRM software
- Track prospect engagement and progress through the sales funnel
- Collaborate with sales managers to ensure alignment on lead quality and quantity targets
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with marketing and sales teams to develop targeted outreach strategies
- Provide feedback on prospect responses and market trends to refine messaging and targeting
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless handover of qualified leads
Skills and Competencies
- Strong Organizational Skills: Leverage Microsoft tools (MS Teams, MS Excel) to organize plans, content, and action trackers. There are opportunities to use more innovative solutions through demonstration of value.
- Ability to proactively make outbound prospecting calls created from lead generation campaigns and follow up in timely manner
- Knowledge of lead follow up processes and standard work
- Proven experience in sales, lead generation, or customer service
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly
- Goal-oriented mindset with a drive to exceed targets and quotas
- Familiarity with a CRM software (preferably Salesforce)
- Ability to work independently as well as a collaborative team
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in outbound lead generation or prospecting role
Physical Demands
Employee may have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. This can include occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Employee will need to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee will need to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Employee can work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time. Will have repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Work Environment
Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting, but may also include typical warehouse environment on occasion, where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. While in the warehouse employee may be exposed to high levels of noise.
