A Brief Overview
The Sales & Communications Coordinator serves as a dual role for the Ontario Reign. This position sells group tickets for Ontario Reign games to various organizations and companies while also assisting with the communications strategy and public relations efforts for the team. This role seeks to develop business relationships to gain revenue by selling group tickets to Inland Empire businesses and families for the Ontario Reign Hockey Club of the American Hockey League (AHL). This role will also support in content creation, social media coverage, media relations and have the opportunity to contribute to the team’s broadcast on game nights.
What you will do
- Generate group ticket revenue using all sales methods, including cold calls, face-to-face appointments, arena tours, prospecting, and networking.
- Proactively prospect and network to generate new business relationships; host client meetings and give presentations to potential clients on a regular basis.
- Provide prompt, thorough, and courteous responses to all inbound & outbound customer communication – phone calls, emails, mail, etc. Maintain a high level of customer service to existing and new clients.
- Work with the Manager, Communications to create strategies and produce plans for hockey-related content and media opportunities.
- Assist in writing press releases, recaps, previews, feature stories and media advisories. Research and compile materials for game notes, player bios and team statistics.
- Work remotely during road games to assist in coverage including social media, clipping highlights and written content.
- Serve as one of the team’s broadcasters, providing in-game analysis and contributing to intermission and postgame segments.
Education Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) in journalism, communications or related field
Experience Qualifications
- 4-6 years previous experience working in a fast-paced environment strongly preferred
- Experience in broadcasting, preferably in sports
Skills and Abilities
- Must have solid knowledge of the NHL, statistics, and hockey terminology
- Excellent customer service skills
- Outstanding listening, written, and verbal communication skills
- Quality presentation skills – ability to create, analyze, interpret, and present reports and correspondence
- Highly organized, resourceful, detailed-oriented, quick learner with good time management skills
- Ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management and clients
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn required business systems
- Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver quality content in a fast-paced environment
Pay scale: $21.88-$22.60
