Sales Application Engineer (Industrial Pumps, Motors and Controls) - Mather Pump Service

Mather Pump is respected as a highly technical pump and water well specialty supplier and systems integrator.  We handle a variety of rotating equipment, fluid handling products, custom electrical panels, electrical controls, electric motors, variable speed drives (vfd), automatic control valves (acv), instrumentation and accessories….often cradle to grave. The Sales Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and quotations with regards to the selection, price, design and delivery of critical water equipment to industry, municipalities and agriculture.  

This role is for a detailed team player who will communicate and collaborate with outside business partners, internal teams, suppliers, factories, service shops, and job shop providers.  This person will be a part of a team of industry experts, both in-house and nationwide, consisting of suppliers, product engineers, field service engineers, technicians, installers, and sub-contractors.  All working together to meet or exceed customer expectations.  

Daily projects include both replacement of complex equipment and design-bid-build projects of increasing size and complexity up to 500hp plus.  Municipal spec work on a case-by-case basis and by proficiency.  

Pay: 70-90k depending on related experience 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Recent experience in either Engineering, Technical Sales, or Construction Project Management...or combination thereof.
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, engineering technology, process engineering, or related field.
• Tech Savvy.  Strong computer proficiency. 
• Ability to understand and further learning of Systems design, pump hydraulics, mechanics, hydraulic design, electrical design, construction practices and process.
• Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills with strong verbal and written communication
• Strong ability to work with ambiguity, manage multiple projects at once, and to review technical documents as well as strong nature to compete for and be awarded projects.
• Ability to understand both customer and company interests and consider them both in a fair and reasonable standard.

• Full-time availability, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with at least one of our core groups of product: Lineshaft Turbine Pumps, Industrial/Municipal Pumps, VFD – Variable Frequency Drive Control Panels, Industrial Automation (with pumping applications) or Electric Motors
• Experience with public bid processes and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Software Proficiency with: ERP’s, CRM’s, m365, Adobe, CADD, and Pump Selection Software, Pipeflo, Systems Curves, Systems Modeling, CFD, and other equipment configurators.
• Understanding of how complex automatic control valves operate and their performance within a system.
• Experience reading and understanding electrical schematics.
• Understanding a chain of input/output system reactions.
