Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Yuma, Arizona nestled between Phoenix and San Diego. Yuma features extraordinary outdoor activities from tubing on the Colorado River to off-roading at the Buttercup Sand Dunes. Our location produces hard boiled eggs for a vast number of both retail and food service customers. Responsibilities SUMMARY: This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to food safety & quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. It is the responsibility of the Safety Supervisor to support plant management teams with their initiatives related to providing safe and healthy work environment as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. ACITIVITIES: Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately. Attends and actively participates in safety meetings/trainings. Ensures regulatory compliance at all times. In cooperation with Operations and HR Manager, leads Element 1 and acts as technical resource for all other SRMP teams. Identifies employee safety training needs with and develops/updates training materials. Identifies unsafe work conditions/practices through workplace audits and takes appropriate action to eliminate these conditions and behaviors. Maintains/monitors investigation, record keeping and follow up regarding all workplace accidents. Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations (standards) as well as other governmental agencies. Works with workers compensation carrier as well as third party providers to ensure cost effective and appropriate handling of all workers compensation claims. Determines requirements as associated with personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintains and updates all written safety programs. Supports the entire management team in administering appropriate and consistent disciplinary actions for violation of safety rules and policy. Schedules and coordinates required industrial safety testing and monitoring. Participates in companywide safety and training teams. Actively supports other team members in their efforts to support facilities safety and health programs. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. 3-5+ years’ experience in workplace safety role/s. Knowledge of local, state and federal safety compliance and regulatory issues, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Proficent in Microsoft office products.
