JOB DETAILS:
Shift 2nd Shift (3pm - midnight)*
Location In-Shop & In Field
Schedule Schedule to be provided by leader.
Salary Range $58,796 - $100,130 per year
JOB SUMMARY:
Facilitates and supports supervisors in developing a Safety Culture within Empire’s work groups. Works with supervisors from all departments to mentor and train employees in best safety practices. Develops and implements, with Safety Department Managers and Site Management, innovative safety programs complying with Empire’s best safety practices and policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Mentors Empire’s employees in their work areas to develop safe habits by working with the employees on facility, tooling, equipment, service trucks and work processes.
• Plans, organizes, and facilitates safety activities within the facility workgroups to include safety briefings, safety compliance training, and supports and ensures that supervisors are in compliance with required employee training.
• Works with Site Safety Committees and/or supervisors to ensure a Root Cause Analysis is completed on incidents, as necessary.
• Works with supervisors to conduct detailed safety assessments of work areas.
• Provides best practice safety instruction with employees.
• Plans, organizes and facilitates safety training to area supervisors on identified Federal, State, Local and Empire Safety Policies.
• Assists with reviews and revisions of Corporate Safety Policies and Procedures to ensure comprehension and uniform compliance.
• Works with Supervisors and the Training Department to assure all Empire Safety and Compliance training requirements are met.
• Create an environment of ownership and personal accountability where each person is responsible and accountable for their performance.
• Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Verifies employee safety training records are up to date.
• Maintains knowledge of proper MSDS procedures.
• Works with Parts Department to ensure that adequate personal protective equipment and safety supplies are available.
• Provides training on safety-related topics as necessary to help maintain regulatory compliance.
• Works within and promotes corporate values.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
• Knowledge of proper operation and repairs of construction and mining equipment.
• Knowledge of Crane operation and rigging.
• Ability to travel frequently alone or with field employees.
• Able to work a flexible schedule to work with different shift employees or after normal work hours to investigate incidents as necessary.
• Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
• Trained or certified in all tasked areas required of employees within 1 year of employment. (e.g. MSHA, CDL, 1st Aid, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Bachelors Degree in Safety, Business, Management, or related field preferred.
• Preferred skills; EMT, OSHA and/or MSHA Instructor Certifications
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
• Three years’ experience in safety compliance.
