General Position Summary: Responsible for setting the direction for Health Safety & Environmental for corporate and multi-site locations. Completes audits and training of all plants, facilities and employees related to HSE regulations. Serves as HSE expert and provides leadership to management. Compiles and submits required OSHA accident reports. Controls workers compensation costs through accident and lost time injuries reduction. Ensures compliance with applicable OLE Mexican Foods policies, procedures, and local state and federal regulations.
Job Functions
- Manage the corporate and plant safety programs
- Enforce and establish safety procedures for critical processes (Loto, Permit Required Confined Space, HAZCOM, and Power Industrial Equipment) and all other manufacturing process.
- Coordinate and track progress of government regulations compliance
- Responsible for employee safety training
- Change agent for improving safety culture at the plants
- Write/keep up-to-date manuals, procedures, and policies for safety functions for all locations
- Direct plant safety teams and multi-plant safety council
- Work with manufacturing on engineering and plant layout changes.
- Investigates serious injuries in conjunction with line and staff personnel. Notify top management of pertinent details.
- Guides and assist plant personnel at locations critical safety and health problems.
- Overview company accident statistics and make recommendations for correction problem areas.
- Works with trade and professional organizations to promote goals and objectives in the HSE area that affects company business.
- Stay apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company.
- Act as company representative in dealing with government agencies on Health Safety & Environmental.
- Set-up and administer safety incentive programs.
- Conduct site visits of all facilities and daily plant walk through
- Assist in workers compensation procedures and modified work duty.
- Assist in with cost –control efforts, participate in manufacturing improvement.
Education & Experience Required
- 1. High School diploma, accomplished training in Health Safety & Environmental or college degree preferred
- 2 At least 5 years HSE leadership in a manufacturing facility.
- 3. Self-starter - excellent ability to initiate, analyze and resolve issues.
- 4. Knowledge of OSHA, Workers Compensation, EEO and ADA law and regulations
- Check facilities fire extinguishers and emergency lights to maintain compliance
