Join our dynamic team as a Safety Specialist, Chemicals, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing safety protocols within a manufacturing environment. In this role, you will provide essential occupational safety and health leadership and technical expertise to ensure seamless operations while adhering to compliance standards. Your efforts will focus on minimizing risks, managing change effectively, and achieving performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture by engaging operators in safe work practices.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and oversee the Hazard Communication program.
- Conduct assessments for personal protective equipment, ergonomics, and health risks, including exposure monitoring.
- Support the investigation of incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide expert consultation on regulatory compliance, job safety analysis, and behavior modification strategies.
- Develop and deliver employee safety and health training modules.
- Interface effectively with regulatory agencies as needed.
Targeted Outcomes:
- Build strong networking relationships that translate into business improvements.
- Act as a change agent by coaching and influencing safety best practices.
- Advance the site’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs to world-class standards, ensuring regulatory and corporate compliance.
- Implement and improve plans for industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and emergency response.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in safety compliance within a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
- Proficient in occupational safety compliance and ANSI standards.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficient in computer skills and data management.
Desired Certifications:
- Interest in obtaining the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
- Ability to adjust work schedule to support safety initiatives on alternate shifts.
- Capability to meet physical demands in an industrial environment, including working in extreme temperatures and using ladders.
