The Pictsweet Company is growing! Seeking a safety professional to join our staff ensuring workplace safety policies and protocols are designed and followed by all production employees. The successful candidate will provide technical safety and health support to production and agriculture personnel, develop safety and health programs and objectives and coordinate safety training programs, monitor safety and health regulations and provide technical support to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations, assist in managing the facilities PSM program, and oversee and manage workers compensations claims.
Responsibilities:- Manages the Safety and Health Program, leads the Safety Committee, maintains all safety-related files and reports, and ensures compliance with OSHA standards. Maintains OSHA log.
- Assist in managing the facilities PSM program by coordinating audits, serving on PHA team, reviewing safety concerns, coordinating with contractors, and maintaining organization of documents.
- Serves as the facilities Food Defense Coordinator. Manages Food Defense Program, coordinates meetings and actions, and provides training. Maintains overall responsibility for the program.
- Participates and assists in managing the Emergency Response Team. Attends required training and meetings. Communicates and coordinates training and meetings with fire and police department and LEPC.
- Establishes safe work procedures and implements and administers required safety programs such as lockout/tagout, hearing conservation, confined space, hazardous communications, and forklift safety.
- Coordinates periodic safety inspections to identify workplace hazards and verifies that corrective measures are completed.
- Reviews all safety investigation reports, verifies that corrective actions have been completed, and follows all OSHA recordkeeping and accident reporting requirements.
- Assists with monthly safety training, which includes preparing training materials and giving instruction on personnel (OSHA) safety, food safety and quality, and food security.
- Conducts contractor orientation and safety training and assist with new employee orientation.
- Corrects and disciplines employees violating GMPs and safety rules.
- Handles all workers compensation claims and oversees the facilities first aid program. Manages the OSHA 300 log.
- Reviews injury/illness and non-injury incidents and is the team leader of the Investigation Team.
- Accompanies injured employees to doctor offices or emergency room for treatment and follow up.
- Works with workers compensation insurance carrier to oversee claims. Attends Benefit Review Conferences (BRC) when needed.
- Is available and can be contacted 24 hours, 7 days a week to respond to accidents, administer drug tests, and conduct investigations.
- Follows all Company policies and procedures, which include SOPs, Employee Handbook, Food Quality Policies, GMP Handbook, HACPP, and Pictsweet Safety Procedures.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulations relating to food safety and personnel safety such as FDA, USDA, OSHA, and TOSHA. Complies with all other regulations and laws affecting the company (business law, trade secrets, personnel practices, etc.)
- Acts as a liaison between management and employees.
- Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Performs other Human Resources duties as required and assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field required
5 years of recent experience managing safety for a manufacturing facility may be substituted with a Bachelor’s Degree in non-related field

Coaching and managing employees through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
Researching and analyzing various different type of data information
Organizing and prioritizing work
Effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills
Other
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Occasionally travels and visits agriculture farms located in West Tennessee
Must reside within prescribed boundaries (immediate area of Bells, TN) for plant leadership
