Safety Monitor at North Colonie Central School District

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Point of Contact:
• Act as the primary point person during after-hours events and activities.
• Direct all visitors and staff to the appropriate locations.
2. Safety Management:
• Ensure that individuals entering the buildings after hours are properly greeted and vetted.
• Manage building security by monitoring access.
3. Door Management:
• Assist with the opening and closing of doors for events.
• Ensure that access control measures are in place for community members and guests.
4. Community Assistance:
• Provide support to community members, answering questions and addressing concerns.
• Serve as a key contact in case of emergencies.
5. Additional Duties:
• Perform other tasks as needed during downtime to support building operations and various departments.

Required Training:

• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS):
• Monitors will be trained in crisis prevention and intervention techniques.
• Raptor System:
• Monitors will be trained to use the Raptor visitor management system to ensure the safety of the building by screening visitors.
• New York State S.H.E.L.L.
• Monitor will be trained in NYS mandated School Safety Plans
• CPR, AED, and First Aid:
• Monitors will be trained in life-saving procedures, including CPR, the use of AEDs, and basic First Aid.
• Needham training
• Greeter training
• Securly Pass Training
• Electronic pass system via chromebooks, and tablets

Collaborative Efforts:

• Work with:
• Athletics
• Shaker High School & Middle School administration
• Continuing Education program
• Support main office staff to ensure that visitors are routed to the correct areas.

Flexibility in Schedule:

• Flexibility to adapt the 8-hour schedule based on the needs of specific evening events.
