Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to oversee and manage safety aspects of our construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of safety principles, regulations and applicable standards, and the ability to foster effective relationships with stakeholders. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to drive safety mindset forward while ensuring quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for Folan team, clients and subcontractors, addressing their safety needs and concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
- Works with the Superintendent and Project Managers to administer, direct, and implement compliance with Folan’s Safety and Health policies and procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and manage project team members, including site supervisors, engineers, and field team during site visits. Foster a collaborative environment where safety is top of mind.
- Performs administrative tasks related to project specific safety binder and document storage systems.
- Periodically attends and monitors Tool Box Talks conducted by team to assure documentation and quality.
- Performs accident investigations in the event of a job site accident – including collection of standard incident reporting forms and documentation.
- Represent the company at meetings, site visits, and industry events, promoting a positive image.
- Coordinates, schedules, and facilitates subcontractor’s safety compliance on projects from pre-construction safety planning meetings, review of subcontractors site specific safety programs prior to subcontractor mobilization through to execution safety documentation like toolbox talks.
- Performs accident investigations in the event of a job site accident – including collection of standard incident reporting forms and documentation.
- Responsible for staying current on applicable safety topics and rolling our wider training as applicable.
- Leading safety training program for project management team including conducting training for applicable OSHA topics and other Safety related topics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Safety Studies, or a related field preferred but not required
- 2+ years of experience in construction safety, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes. OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
