We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Safety Manager to join our team in the construction industry. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our employees, contractors, and visitors. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate is a safety advocate with a strong ability to communicate and lead others!
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and manage the company's safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
2. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, ensuring that corrective measures are taken promptly.
3. Lead risk assessments and propose strategies to control potential risks.
4. Train and educate employees on safety regulations and practices, promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
5. Investigate accidents and incidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future.
6. Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards, including OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and local health and safety laws.
7. Develop and maintain documentation such as MSDSs, Accident Reports, Safety Manuals and Training Logs.
8. Coordinate with project managers and team leaders to discuss safety precautions and ensure compliance throughout the construction process.
9. Act as a point of contact for safety concerns, fostering open communication and encouraging employees to voice safety concerns.
10. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in workplace safety.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field preferred
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in the construction, mining or aggregate industry.
3. Proven experience with safety management, risk assessment, construction safety, workplace safety, hazard recognition, risk management, regulatory compliance, accident investigation, safety compliance, and safety training.
4. Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage others.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present safety information to diverse audiences.
6. In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as industry best practices.
7. Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
10. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and implementing solutions.
