As the Safety Manager, you will be responsible for creating a culture of a "safety-first” mindset by managing all company safety initiatives. You will work closely with our leadership and management teams to ensure all employees, both field and non-field, are educated on and adhering to our company's strict safety policies and protocol.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all safety and safety training initiatives including creating, developing, implementing, and maintaining all safety policies, manuals, protocols, SOPs, training programs, incident reporting, and compliance efforts company-wide
- Manage field safety audit program at any of our job sites nationwide by conducting safety audits and administering the safety audit program to evaluate effectiveness of safety processes, identify existing or potential risks and recommend corrective/preventative measures.
- Track and report on safety statistics, analysis, trends, and lessons learned
- Oversee the work comp and return to work programs, partnering closely with the Human Resources Dept.
- Responsible for the quality control and safety audits ensuring safety compliance as outlined by company and OSHA regulations and directives
- Conduct accident investigations and reviews incident and near miss reports, provide root cause analysis after each incident, and work with OSHA following any reportable incident
- Serves as a resource to management; acts as a liaison with external regulatory agencies, safety suppliers, and other safety-related organizations
- Strong knowledge of applicable OSHA and DOT federal regulations, including FMCSA and PMSHA, state and local safety regulations, policies and procedures
- Strong knowledge of construction safety best practices, risk assessments and root cause analysis and methodologies
- Solid knowledge of fleet, maintenance and repairs, etc.
- Strong ability to work with and communicate with all regulatory agencies, customers and vendors
- Strong ability to communicate, educate, and motivate all levels of employees, including rollout and training of new safety and fleet policies and procedures
- Must be able to travel out of town based on project and location needs
- Must be fully proficient MS Office Suite and cloud-based tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, i.e., Safety Manager or comparable role in construction, utilities and/or pipeline industry
- Bachelor's degree in related-field, preferred but not required
- Preferred certifications include Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA 30 certification, HAZWOPER certification, Confined Space, CAFM
