Our Boston based group covering the New England area is looking for a highly energetic, enthusiastic, experienced, hands-on, Safety Manager. This individual will interact with company and branch leadership, employees and subcontractors. They will lead and support a safety team of (1) as well as project-specific safety facilitators, and direct efforts to continuously improve our overall safety culture. Other responsibilities include: developing procedures, safety standards, and best practices in a team environment. They will also develop safety coordinators to acquire necessary skills/knowledge/certifications and conduct interactive training as well as investigating near-hit incidents. Some highlights of this position include:
- Management of the branch safety team
- Member of the branch leadership team, establishing alignment with project management, construction management, and administration.
- Weekly visits to jobsites to confirm safe operation, and encourage and celebrate project team efforts.
- Participation in front line safety efforts - audits, weekly update calls, observation reports, and other proactive safety tactics
- Managing/facilitating company-wide and branch safety initiatives
- Frequent involvement in project planning discussions with emphasis on high-risk projects and high-risk or repetitive work tasks
Must have 5+ years’ experience in safety coordinator/manager role and have leadership skills to effectively train and mentor others. Individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a quickly changing open team environment. Fluency in Spanish and experience w/ a self-performing contractor are a plus. Ability to travel 50-75% of the time and work at heights are required. The successful candidate needs to reside in the Boston area.
