We are currently seeking a highly motivated Safety Assistant Manager II located in Los Angeles, CA .

Required Education:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Certifications:

• Possess an active Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician credential or better
• Cal OSHA 10/30 hour Authorized Trainer within 3 months of appointment and shall be maintained for the duration of the assignment
• American Red Cross CPR/1st Aid instructor
• May be required to attain NFPA 70e certification and renew every four years

Required Qualifications:

In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.

• 5 years of vertical, tunnel, or heavy civil construction experience
• Effectively use Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro software
• Large-scale construction management type software such as Prolog, VEO, Procore and other computer software and applications as needed

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Contractor Safety Team, LAWA Inspection Team, Project Management Team, and others to ensure assigned projects are implementing effective safety programs.
• Walk all assigned projects regularly and possibly multiple times daily which can total a few miles a day.
• Engage with the LAWA TDG Safety platform to perform Task Hazard Analysis audits and report safety observations.
• Meet with LAWA Inspectors and other stakeholders regarding safety concerns and follow-up actions taken by the contractor.
• Review written Safety Plans and verify results of safety performance and compliance in the field on an ongoing basis to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation.
• Assist the Project/Construction Manager in verifying that contractors comply with written documentation on requirements including weekly "toolbox" meetings, new employee orientation, daily safety inspection reports, any accident/incident and related investigation reports, provision of" competent or authorized person documentation including training records and Job hazard analysis (JHAs).
• Be self-motivated individual who can research pertinent requirements not readily available.
• Attend Project Progress and Project Safety Committee meetings as directed by the Program Safety Manager to monitor the ongoing safety effort of the Construction Manager and Contractor.
• Attend and participate in Construction Safety Advisory Council Meetings, as directed by the Program Safety Manager.
• Ability to write clear and effective reports.
• Attend and participate in the Monthly All-Hands Safety Meeting to discuss general program safety concerns and successes and present updates and information on safety regulations and requirements including a monthly training program component on relevant safety subject matter.
• Coordinate with management to promote the proactive and behavior-based TDG Safety Program internally and externally (e.g., National Safety Council, trade and professional organizations, etc.) and bring positive publicity to the program and TDG.
• Contribute to the advancement of TDG's goals through a commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities.
• May assume other duties as required/needed
• May be required to work past regular work shifts and to come in on a regular day off and during regular off hours.
• May be required to start a regular shift at any time of day or night
• May be required to start a regular work week any day of the week
• Will be required to conduct Cal OSHA training to LAWA staff and others
• Will be required to provide CPR/1st Aid Training
• Will be required to pass the federal background check and obtain a LAWA Badge with RACCI, Customs, and Driver icons
• Will require a vehicle that can access the AOA.

Salary:

• $177,680.00 annually

Bonus Pay:

A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at managements discretion.
