Rooftop Host/Hostess - Beach Hotel

The Wayfarer Downtown LA is looking for a Host/Hostess to join our team. We are looking for an energetic and cheerful Host/Hostess to greet and acknowledge all arriving guests and escort guests to their tables.

Situated in downtown Los Angeles on the corner of South Flower and 8^th Street, The Wayfarer DTLA is perfectly placed to capture a number of varying markets. With unique food & beverage offerings, including a top-notch rooftop bar, and a full event and activation program for all of the outlets, The Wayfarer is primed for opportunity from both local residents in downtown, as well as travelers to the city center. The Wayfarer has a fun, lifestyle and irreverent feel to it. This design forward hotel will elevate the independent and ever curious traveler experience through a variety of flexible and social public spaces, local art installations, and interactive touches that entice one to dig deeper and truly experience the destination.

Core functions of the position, but are not limited to the following;

• Utilize Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and in accordance with property specific guidelines
• Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing personalized service to guests.
• Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.
• Cheerfully and courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congenialities ensuring restaurant’s standards of service.
• Take, record and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellation as specified in departmental standards.
• Assist in preparing the restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room at all times.
• Assist in monitoring the guests’ needs and all phases of the restaurant operations.
• Oversee all aspects of restaurant during absence of Restaurant Manager and/or Supervisor.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, specials, liquor/beer/non-alcoholic selections available in the restaurant.
• Maintain good guest relations by keeping abreast of all in-house and area functions in order to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses.
• Inspect tables and stations ensuring that all set ups meet the department standards. Check throughout meal period. Relay deficiencies to respective team members and follow up on corrections.
• Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently as specified in department standards.
• Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant.
• Ensure tables are cleaned and reset according to standards.
• Report any missing/found articles or equipment/property damage to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant and hotel.
• Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Salary: $19.00-$19.73/hour
