Job Title: Steel Mill Supervisor
Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Leadership:
• Lead and manage a team of workers, including machine operators, maintenance staff, and other production employees.
• Ensure clear communication of daily production goals and objectives to the team.
• Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities for employees.
• Monitor employee performance, address issues, and enforce discipline when necessary.
2. Production Management:
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily steel production processes, ensuring efficient use of equipment and manpower.
• Monitor production schedules to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Adjust workflow and resources as necessary to meet production goals.
• Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, quality control, and maintenance, to address any operational challenges.
3. Quality Control:
• Ensure that the products meet industry and company quality standards.
• Perform regular inspections of processes and finished products.
• Implement corrective actions when quality standards are not met.
4. Health and Safety Compliance:
• Ensure the work environment complies with safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA).
• Conduct safety training and regular audits to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate accidents and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
5. Equipment Maintenance:
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure regular upkeep and repair of machinery.
• Schedule downtime for maintenance and repair activities to minimize production disruptions.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and employee performance.
• Prepare and submit reports on production efficiency, quality, and safety metrics.
• Ensure proper documentation of operational procedures and safety protocols.
7. Continuous Improvement:
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase productivity and reduce costs.
• Participate in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives.
Requirements:
• Education: A high school diploma is typically required, but a bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial management, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory role in a steel mill or a similar manufacturing environment is essential.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of steel production processes, machinery, and quality control procedures.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Safety Awareness: Deep understanding of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
