The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers. The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Health Network reflects the missions, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments. Must have excellent assessment skills and be able to make independent judgment of patient care plan.
The Registered Nurse reports to the Clinical Nurse Supervisor of the Wound Center.
• Holds self and others accountable for safety by ensuring appropriate procedures and guidelines are followed.
• Responsive to coaching and feedback for improvement; demonstrates continued progress by improving competencies, skill development and applying learning.
• Demonstrates appropriate judgment and thinking skills for situations.
• Attends (or reviews via HealthStream) a minimum of three Town Hall meetings.
• Provides appropriate wound care treatments as ordered.
• Oversees work of wound care technicians.
• Utilizes wound center resources efficiently.
• Instructs/educates patients in chronic wound care, treatment and issues related to diagnosis.
• Uses proper aseptic and or/sterile technique where appropriate. Instructs patients in infection control.
• Assist patients in obtaining resources to support successful wound healing.
• Assist patients in insurance qualifications for care.
• Works with Home Care agencies, ECF’s, Diagnostics and Physicians for Continuity of Care.
• Exercises good judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures.
