DUTIES OF OUR UNIT MANAGERS
- Provides leadership and direction for the delivery of nursing care by Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Nursing Assistants for their assigned unit.
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective communications in interpersonal techniques/strategies with healthcare team members in dealing with issues concerning staff performance, patient care, and family concerns.
- Establishes and implements action plans to ensure the attainment of the department’s goals and objectives. Effectively collaborates with the medical staff and all departments in planning for the total needs of residents.
- Ensures compliance with applicable State and Federal standards and regulations for long-term care and initiates action plans to correct deficiencies in advance of the annual inspections by the PA Dept of Health.
- Ensures that individual care plans are instituted and updated according to regulatory requirements through observation and report from charge nurse.
- Develops CNA work assignments and staffing schedules to ensure staffing levels are adequate to provide a high level of care. Maintains continuity of nursing care during shift transitions, receives, and provides reports (both verbal and written) to nursing staff and management.
EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
· 3-5 years’ experience in Long Term Care required.
· 1-3 years previous supervisory experience in long-term care preferred.
· Knowledge of clinical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
