- Pay is based on years of applicable experience, starting at $33 / hour

Job Summary
The RN Unit Coordinator/Charge Nurse is responsible for directing patient care for designated shifts. The position will demonstrate proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process and team leadership. Contributes to nursing assessment and the development of a nursing care plan while participating in the evaluation of nursing care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for oversight of 15 residents and assisting with coverage of other units in Unit Coordinator absence.
- Works as part of an interdisciplinary team administering care to residents. Assesses resident and staff needs and modify care to best serve each resident. Maintains facility standards of nursing leadership.
- Assess and provide resident care within established policies, procedures, and professional standards with consideration and respect for the residents’ choices, privacy, dignity, safety and independence.
- Administers medications and treatments, reporting changes in residents’ condition and takes necessary actions.
- Actively supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Certified Medication Aides (CMA) ensuring staff are well informed of responsibilities for residents and monitors care provided to ensure the residents receive accurate and safe care by conducting daily rounds and making staff development plans as necessary.
- Communicates effectively with family members, physicians, and other appropriate individuals timely and provides notifications when there are changes in resident’s condition, physician orders or grievances.
- Completes various resident clinical assessments and forms including the care plan, care conference attendance, daily resident charting, medication administration record, lab results, appointment and transportation set up, etc.
- Assists with orientation of new staff, provides ongoing instruction, and initiates disciplinary procedure as needed.
- Determines appropriate CNA assignments based on resident assessment, acuity, diagnosis and other care needs.
- Participates in an on-call rotation to provide afterhours support in rotation with other members of the nursing team. Rotation varies according to RN coverage.
- Collaborate and communicate with other departments to obtain consistent, optimal resident care.
- Participates in 1 facility quality improvement program per quarter.
- Participation in staff evaluations and disciplinary process
Qualifications
- Associates degree in nursing required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current RN licensure with the Board of Nursing in Minnesota
- Current CPR certification
