Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the well-being and nursing care of all residents assigned to him/her during a shift. The RN provides nursing services following the patient’s treatment plan or physician’s directions, assesses patients and responds to and reports any changes in condition, distributes and charts medications, and responds to emergencies.
The ideal candidate has a current and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in this state, certification in CPR/AED/First Aid, and at least two years of nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care setting or an assisted living community. Candidates must have a genuine desire to help others, strong organizational and multitasking skills, and proficient computer skills. Candidate must have a minimum of one year supervisor experience in a long-term care setting.
This position is every other weekend from 8am to 8pm.
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care following established nursing service objectives and standards
- Ensures that all safety and infection control practices are followed
- Distributes and documents medications (including narcotics) according to established standards and regulations
- Responds to emergency situations
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
- Communicates with patients and families regarding treatment and care
- Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current NJ state license as a Registered Nurse
- Two years of RN experience in long-term care
- One year of supervisor or manager experience in a long-term care setting
- Experience with Point Click Care
- Current BLS (CPR), First Aid, and AED certifications
- Knowledge of state and local regulations regarding long-term care
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
- Strong organization skills, able to multitask, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer and internet skills
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
- Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
