- GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Occupational Health Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the occupational health services provided to business/industry and Harrington Memorial Hospital. Duties include but are not limited to: Provides physical assessments for pre-placement screens/physicals and work related injuries. Performs pulmonary function testing, audiometric assessments, vision screens, breath alcohol tests, phlebotomy for collection of venous samples for assessment, collection of samples for substance abuse testing. Interprets findings from provided screens and manages cases accordingly. Manages work related injury cases. Performs work site evaluations. Consults with Medical Director, Director, team members, employers and insurers as required. Maintains inventory of clinical supplies. Assists Director as needed. Duties may be added or altered as needs of the department change. May provide assistance to the Preventive Health Department as required.
- WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of 2 years Occupational Health experience preferred.
- EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current Registered Nurse licensure by the Massachusetts B.O.R.N.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.
- Certification as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist preferred.
- Certification in Spirometry from a NIOSH accredited course preferred.
- Certification as a Breath Alcohol Technician preferred.
- American Heart Association or equivalent B.L.S. certification for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation.
- Current driver’s license from State of residence.
