FINGERPRINT REQUIREMENT.
IN PERSON PROCESS can be printed in Jackson or Grenada MS the week prior to start (48 hr turn around)
REMOTE PROCESS 10-14 days needed for processing)
Must work at least 3 of the following 6 dates: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years
Must have solid experience as an RN - 1 or more years level 1 trauma experience PREFERRED or experience at a Very large medical center with a lot of surgeries/high acuity patients, must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes EPIC CHARTING experience is required.
Unit Med/Surg 6S General MedSurg
- # Beds: 32
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: typical ratio for all medsurg units is 1:5 up to 1:6 at times, ratio would be adjusted down for higher acuity patients
- Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): ACLS BLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients current INFECTIOUS DISEASE, also takes medsurg overflow

- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: heparin, could have an order for amio and that can be
started and then patient would be transferred to cardiac unit
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: cardiac drips on 3south only
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What
brand are the tele monitors?: every unit has tele capability, patients are monitored on all
units, central monitor station will communicate with RN, 3south tele unit also has central
monitors at nurses station and every patient is on tele
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?: Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Both. Nurse
managers are in house M-F business hours, starting at 3pm M-F and all weekend there is an
adult house sup. charge takes light patient assignment, will take full load of patients if needed.

- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios all units
- RT Equipment (i.e., Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents, etc.): cpap bipap at night, RT to help, high
flow on 2n,
- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 12 hours, 7a-7p or 7p-
7a, travelers are expected to fill holes but managers will try to accomodate block scheduling as
scheudle allows, open to weekenders if traveler would like to work every weekend but that is
not required
- Weekend Requirement every other or 2 weekends per month is standard, could be higher to
meet needs of department
- Holiday Requirement: rotate in with regular staff
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: no
- Floating Requirements?: within skillset, all staff float between all medsurg units. higher
acuity patients would be given to core staff
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? any color, needs to be solid color and professional
- Unit/Department specific orientation first day, all paperwork and attestations, logins for
Omnicel and Epic, show around unit (a few hours), discuss scheduling. 2 additional shifts with
preceptor
