Position Description
Job Title: Lead Nurse Manager
Department: Medical Department
Reports To: Medical Director/Executive Director

SUMMARY:
The individual in this position is responsible for the charge of nursing services, and exercises supervision over subordinate staff nurses, and reports directly to the agency medical director clinically and to the Executive Director administratively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following.
Dispenses medication when there is a shortage of nursing staff.
Maintains medication records in accordance with State and Federal Guidelines.
Participates in staff conferences and in-service training.
Urine collection/labeling when necessary. Labeling of blood drawn by physician.
Evaluates the performance of nursing service personnel.
Represents Medical Department in weekly staffings or as needed.
Assists the Medical Director and Executive Director in various administrative duties as required.
Other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of substance abuse (opioids)
Extensive and detailed knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
Knowledge of out-patient clinic administration and modern techniques of supervision.
Ability to direct and instruct registered and LPN nurses, and other medical staff in performing clinical services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
An RN degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
A minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing experience.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language sufficiently to execute the above listed responsibilities effectively.
COMPETENCE AREAS:
Perform health inventories, physical assessments and vital signs with assigned population.
Assess/identify medical problems and communicate relevant information to physician.
Demonstrate cultural competency.
Demonstrate competency in chemical dependency detox and treatment.
Identify psychosocial needs of clients.
Demonstrate ability to accurately inventory, dispense and store medications.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Good written and verbal communication skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and develops nursing services.
Supervises and schedules staff work assignments.
Supervises and coordinates nursing and other medical activities.
Develops, coordinates, and periodically updates treatment plans, and goals for each client on caseload.
Establish and maintain responsibility for the content and order of patient chart.
Present client case before staffing team for admission, discharge, counselor change or status.
Acts on recommendation of review team and incorporate findings into treatment plan.
Make and follows-up on appropriate referrals.
Directly provides services i.e. regular progress reporting to court advocacy when appropriate.
Accurately and appropriately records incidents related to assigned client's activity in the program.
Record counseling contacts that relate to goals and objectives set forth in each client's treatment plan.
Interviews and regularly counsels each client that includes acquainting the client with program facilities and regulations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
