Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) unit provides comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Assess and monitor patient conditions, including vital signs and response to treatment.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed.
- Provide post-operative care and manage recovery plans for surgical patients.
- Care Planning and Documentation:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Patient Advocacy and Education:
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs are met with compassion and respect.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and allied health professionals.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively to ensure continuity of care.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred).
- Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a Med/Surg or acute care setting is preferred but not required for new graduates.

- Strong clinical and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
