We have an immediate opening for a RN Infusion Nurse (Gyne/Onc) to join our team!
SCOPE:
Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities:Essential Responsibilities:
- Under direction and supervision of a physician, provide direct nursing care to gynecologic oncology patients, including obtaining H/P, completing assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Assist physician or APP in clinic-based diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor and manage side effects and complications of cancer treatments.
- Provides nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
- Serves as a resource person to the medical assistants and LPNs.
- Collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, radiation theraists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement indicvidualized care plans.
- Coordinate surgery schedules for surgeons with local hospital systems.
- Assist in obtaining surgical clearances.
- Schedule patient surgical follow-up appointments in clinic.
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure seamless and coordinated care.
- Triages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in patient's chart.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Stay current with evidence-based practices and advancements in gynecologic oncology nursing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered with relevant experience.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Indiana
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in oncology or a related field preferred.
- Experience in gynecologic oncology nursing is highly desirable.
