About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Intensive Care Unit (ICU) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in ICU **License:** Required **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CCRN and PALS preferred) **Must-Have:** Two years of ICU experience **Job Description:** - Work in a 16-20 bed ICU unit. - Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2. - Utilize Cerner as the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. - Collaborate with a charge nurse who does not carry patients. - No nurse aides will be available on the unit. - Required to work every other weekend and fill gaps in the weekend schedule. - Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital for on-call shifts. - Adhere to the holiday schedule as needed. - Wear navy scrubs during shifts. - Operate equipment including Phillips telemetry and Draeger ventilators. - Work with an intensivist available 24/7 (on-call at night). - Collaborate with a 24/7 available IV team, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy. - May float to telemetry, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1. - Complete two shifts of floor-specific orientation in the ICU before working independently on the third shift. - Care for a variety of patients, including adults and pediatrics with MedSurg, Neuro, Balloon pumps, cranies, CABG, some trauma, psych OD, peds minor/DKA, TPA, hypothermia, ECMO, Impalla, CRRT, TAVR, EVAR, carotid stenting, ECOS, and IABP cases. - Participate in classes and bedside check-offs for specialized procedures if experienced. - Facility may cancel up to three shifts per assignment.
