Collaborates with the Unit Directors in developing, assessing, planning, implementing, directing, and evaluating patient care.What You Will DoIdentifies staff educational needs and functions as a clinical resource/role model for nursing personnelCoordinates orientation of nursing employees on specific shiftOversee unit-based preceptor programParticipates in the interviewing and hiring of new staff membersParticipates and involves nursing staff in evaluative nursing research and or performance improvement activitiesUtilizes evidence-based practice and current research in the development of procedures and protocolsProvides for a positive environment for nursing staffDemonstrates knowledge of conflict resolutionAssists Nurse Manager/Director with criteria based performance evaluations and competency assessmentsAddresses shift-specific matters via staff meetings to further enhance communication and identify areas of concernDemonstrates effective communication with other departmentsResponds to identified concerns of patients, physicians, and visitors. Communicates intervention to Nurse Manager/DirectorManages a patient case load when unit activity indicatesCollaborates with Nurse Manager/Director in monitoring patient acuitiesBudget accountability regarding staffing/suppliesMakes staff assignments appropriately based on patient care needs and competency level of staffDevelops intended outcomes for nursing care and patient education plans based on a needs assessment and interdisciplinary collaborationProvides follow-up supervision to ensure the completion of all patient care assignmentsFollows process for progressive discipline in consultation with Nurse Manager/DirectorAssumes responsibility and accountability for unit functioning in the absence of the Nurse ManagerProvides input regarding updating and revising policies, procedures, goals, and objectivesCompetent in organizational skills to facilitate the delivery of careDemonstrates a proactive attitude by anticipating potential problem situations and appropriately intervenesSeeks opportunities to further own knowledge in areas of responsibilityMentor staff with regard to development of critical thinking skillsParticipates in professional organizations, education seminars and projects related to area of expertiseDemonstrates effective verbal and written communication skillsPerforms related duties as assignedEducation QualificationsGraduate of an accredited school of nursing Required andBachelor's Degree BSN PreferredExperience QualificationsPrevious leadership role Preferred and4-6 years Three plus years of specialty experience PreferredLicenses and CertificationsRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current NJ License Upon Hire RequiredBCLS - Basic Life Support BLS through American Heart Association Upon Hire RequiredNational certification related to specialty area Upon Hire PreferredACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support May be required dependent on specialty areaPALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support May be required dependent on specialty areaNRP - Neonatal Resuscitation May be required dependent on specialty areaHoly Name is a mission-driven facility whose quality standards and philosophy are rooted in the principles of its founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.
