Job Summary Works as part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care for patients enrolled in the Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Programs. This position works closely with an interdisciplinary team consisting of physicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and therapists to develop and implement individualized treatment/care plans. The Outpatient Behavioral Health nurse must be supportive and caring when working with difficult or struggling patients and maintain clear personal boundaries. Education Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program; BSN preferred Licensure Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in West Virginia. Experience One year of current experience in behavioral health, preferably an outpatient setting preferred. Certification Credentialing in psychiatric-mental health nursing and/or addictions preferred. Computer/Typing/Math Skills Experience with computers required. Meditech experience preferred. Job Specific Requirements BCLS validation within 60 days of hire, and CPI validation within 90 days of hire. Must possess good verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate with all hospital contacts, both on the telephone and directly. Must demonstrate good reasoning ability and demonstrate cognitive thought processes for problem solving as related to the scope of duties and responsibilities. Must be able to see to assess patient and staff’s interactions, both physical characteristics and nonverbal communications. Must be able to monitor equipment within job responsibilities. Must be able to see to access the environment at all times. Must be able to hear to assess patient and staff’s interactions. Must be able to distinguish variations in sounds. CPI Maintains current knowledge of non-violent therapeutic crisis intervention and employs it as needed to maintain therapeutic milieu. AEB current certifications/updates.

Demonstrates leadership abilities during a Code Gray situation and provides debriefing session with documentation upon completion of code.

CARNS certification if applicable – maintains current knowledge of addiction treatments.

Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Credential if applicable, maintains current knowledge of psychiatric mental health treatment.

Group facilitation. Assists and participates in group facilitation as assigned by program schedule and according to identified needs of patients’ Plan of Care.

Follows Safety policy of Behavioral Health Services departments by demonstrating skill and knowledge in safety procedures including but not limited to the following: observation and precautions, room and common area searches, body searches, patient belonging searches, outpatient safety.

Withdrawal Assessments. Proficient with completion of withdrawal assessments on CD patients as evidenced by record review and observation.

EPS/NMS assessments Proficient with assessing patients for adverse effects of psychotropic drugs.

Can provide crisis intervention for patients in a crisis as they call for phone screenings and/or the Emergency Department or Behavioral Health Connections.

Participates in treatment team meetings by providing patient information and nursing goals/interventions.

Demonstrate skills in identifying objective, measurable and time limited goals and interventions for the patient as per treatment team meetings.

Works closely with the therapist/social worker of the program to ensure appropriate discharge plans for each patient.
