We are the Cardiac and Vascular Intermediate Care Unit for OHSU. Our primary patient populations include post-open heart surgery (CABG, heart transplants, VAD, valve replacement, etc.), medical cardiology (ACS, NSTEMI/STEMI, heart failure, etc.) and pre- and post-op vascular surgery (PAD/PVD, vascular bypass, etc.). Our primary teams are Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Cardiology, and we collaborate with PT/OT, Dietitians, Social Work, Case Management, Speech Therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide exceptional care for our patients.
Our unit is a conceptually contiguous Cardiac and Vascular Intermediate Care unit with 30 beds on 11KPV and 12 beds on OHS 7C. In addition, we maintain the organization’s centralized telemetry monitoring program on 11K (providing remote telemetry monitoring for adult and pediatric acute care units at KPV, South Hospital and Doernbecher Hospitals).

$52.11- $86.81 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements for all Nurses:
- BSN Graduates:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS and ACLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
- BLS and ACLS must not expire during orientation
- Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation
Department Specific Requirements:
- One (1) year current experience in cardiovascular, neurosciences, medical-surgical adult acute care, intermediate Care, or SNF that cares for these patient populations
Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Individualized Orientation Schedule tailored to applicant's needs:
Our learning program is unique. You will receive a fellowship program tailored to your development needs for this specialty; which could be for 4 weeks and up to six months.
Transition to hired shift may be delayed for a temporary reassignment due to individual development needs and skill mix of the employees on the unit or the hires shift at any given time.
Preferred Qualifications:- Internal applicants: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Cardiovascular intermediate or progressive care/step-down unit
- Management of ventricular assist devices, vascular sheaths, inotropes and vasoactive medications
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN)
- Certified Heart Failure Nurse (CHFN)
- Certified Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse
