Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures, and policies the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her shift. Patient care will be delivered by the registered nurse who is partnered with one or two other caregivers that may include another RN, and/or an LPN, and/or a PCT/Unit secretary. The RN is responsible for delegating appropriate tasks to the RN/LPN/PCT/ Unit secretary partner(s) to care for the assigned group of patients. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care. Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing and teaching non-RN staff such as LPN/PCT and patient care unit assistant clerical. Open heart education/training is required or to be completed within one year. On call hours are required. This job is measured with age specific criteria. Pre and post care knowledge of open heart and vascular post cardiac Cath patients within 3 months). Cardiac Dysrhythmia classes required and Monitor Training required. Basic cardiac knowledge required. ACLS (Obtain within 30 days of hire). Will be required to cover in other departments as needed.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted RN license for the State of Ohio. Current BLS required. ACLS required or obtained within six months of hire.
Experience: One to three years’ experience specific to physician office practice or Health System preferred. Telemetry experience 1-2 years preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Be cooperative and collaborative, and have the ability to work efficiently while in stressful situations. Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience.
