POSITION SUMMARY
The Risk and Underwriter Advisor role will be responsible for all underwriting activities in supporting Sales and Account Management for renewing a portfolio of clients and for new sales clients. The Risk Analyst and Underwriter Advisor will develop client-specific pricing strategies with competitive offers in the marketplace for all requests. These requests may include Request for Proposals (RFPs), Direct Renewals and Market Checks. The Risk Analyst and Underwriter Advisor will also provide underwriting support for ad hoc and complex analyses with a potential financial impact. The Risk Analyst and Underwriter Advisor will be required to gain in-depth knowledge of the PBM Industry, CMS (Medicare MedB & D), Home Infusion, and Accredo-specific underwriting methods.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Develop specialty pricing strategy and underwrite offers to win and retain clients while also maximizing profitability.
+ Conduct analytical, quantitative, and financial cost modeling for clients with varying lines of business including Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid, and present to leadership.
+ Work with Sales and Account Management to review, strategize and analyze client renewal and new sales opportunities.
+ Effectively communicate with Leadership, SAM and other business partners in the delivery of opportunities to grow and manage financial results, including the preparation of strategic directed presentations.
+ Support Leadership in business management through understanding margin and performance drivers.
+ Maintain close collaboration with Payor Contract Administration, Product Development, Managed Care and Reimbursement groups.
+ Participate in department and company projects.
+ Develop and improve existing best practices for client support and financial modeling.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree with a preference for the following major and/or minors: Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Risk Management
+ 5+ years of risk and/or underwriting experience or equivalent experience
+ Financial/analytical mindset.
+ Strong ability with Microsoft Excel and Office Platforms, including developing Excel models to analyze and explain cost trends
+ Experience in Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), DIRECT Medical/Home Infusion, Managed Care, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical preferred
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
+ Ability to support own position with data and rationale, while being open to possibility that it may need to be re-examined
+ Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
+ Ability to make good and timely decisions by interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators
+ Strong motivation to persevere despite challenges
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Business acumen with leadership, innovative thinking, and customer centric mindset
+ Self-starter; able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
