Qualifications

·         Must have New York State RN license

·         Must have long term care/nursing home experience

·         Must have nursing home risk management experience

·         Must have strong clinical knowledge

         Knowledge of healthcare liability and risk management practices

Responsibilities of the Risk Manager:

·         The Risk Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and accountability of the facility, ensuring that the highest standards of patient care are met

·         Thoroughly investigate and report all occurrences / incidents within the facility in compliance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) regulations and internal policies and guidelines

·         Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess and improve the effectiveness of the risk management program, providing education and counseling to staff as needed

·         Utilize Occurrence Logs to document and report all incidents in accordance with the NYS DOH Incident Reporting manual

·         Assess liability and financial risks, including but not limited to falls, medication errors, abuse, neglect, and hazardous conditions

·         Provide regular reports on ongoing investigations to the Administrator, Director of Nursing Services (DNS), and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT)

·         Conduct safety meetings to ensure that the facility remains a safe and secure environment

·         Initiate and oversee all investigations and notifications to relevant authorities when necessary

·         Issue timely reports to regulatory agencies and governing authorities in compliance with regulations

·         Represent the facility at audits, inspections, and investigations conducted by governing authorities
