Key responsibilities include maintaining and strengthening the company’s risk management framework, overseeing the bond and surety program, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. In this position, you will act as a strategic advisor within the organization, proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks.

RISK MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

- Led the management of the company's risk management framework and insurance programs.
- Spearheaded insurance renewal processes, including information collection, stakeholder meetings, and presenting findings and recommendations to the Director of Risk Management.
- Managed and administered claims, ensuring timely reporting and proactive follow-up.
- Responded to insurance-related requests such as Certificates of Insurance (COIs), contract reviews, BIDs, RFPs, and claims notices.
- Led the planning and administration of risk and crisis management strategies.
- Conducted operational risk analyses to assess insurance needs and exposure areas.
- Identified opportunities for operational improvements in risk management practices.
- Developed risk management reporting and conducted data analysis for informed decision-making.
- Managed insurance quotes, binders, policies, and the renewal process, ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
- Reviewed contracts and agreements (leases, suppliers, customers) to ensure adequate risk transfer and insurance coverage.
- Collaborated with operations, legal, and procurement teams to identify risk mitigation and transfer opportunities.
- Monitored insurance market trends and provided data-driven recommendations to the Director of Risk Management.
- Provided technical guidance on insurance, loss prevention, and risk management issues.
- Coordinated insurance submissions, agreements, and renewals across all programs.
- Consolidated claims data to produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for senior management.
- Led internal risk-related initiatives, offering training and education to build risk awareness across the organization.
- Stayed informed on industry trends and advised on potential strategic changes.
- Developed and managed a comprehensive surety bond program, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with client and jurisdictional requirements.
- Responded promptly to permit and license bond requests, contract bond opportunities, and surety reference letters.
- Provided guidance to bidding and estimating teams regarding bond capacity, structure, and surety expectations.
RISK MANAGER REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of corporate risk management experience or insurance brokerage, preferably with a large insurance company or brokerage firm. Extensive experience in corporate insurance and renewals is a must.
- Track Record: Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate corporate risks effectively.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, team player mentality, and the ability to balance both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
- Attention to Detail: Impeccable attention to detail, particularly with insurance policies, claims, and contract reviews, paired with strong problem-solving skills.
