The Risk Manager will assist in the day-to-day activities of the US Foods Risk Management department. This role will routinely interface with insurance brokers, risk management vendors (i.e., attorneys, TPAs, and actuaries) and various internal stakeholders (i.e., US Foods’ safety, real estate, finance, and human resource teams). A key focus of this position will be to build strong collaborative internal partnerships to advise and guide business decisions for the company. This position reports to the Director, Risk Management.
This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of three onsite days and the rest remote.
Responsibilities:
Insurance:
+ Partner with Director, Risk Management in the placement of all property and casualty insurance programs. Will take the lead on placing some lines of insurance.
+ Assist the collection and review of exposure data for renewal submissions. Conduct evaluations of program structures, policy terms, and benchmarking.
+ Work on the financial analysis of insurance renewals to aid the development of insurance budget. Track spending to budget. Routinely communicate with Accounting and Finance functions.
+ Review contracts and leases for appropriate indemnification and insurance language as well as evaluate appropriate exceptions to insurance requirements and provide guidance to internal contacts on amended language.
+ Oversee outgoing certificates of insurance process and determines appropriate response to requests for exceptions.
Claims:
+ Oversee the Workers’ Compensation program including settlement authority, strategy and solutions including coordinating communication with insurance carriers.
+ Establish and develop a working relationship with US Foods Risk Management Specialists.
+ Participate in stewardship, strategy, claim reviews and other meetings with third party claims administrators and outside defense counsel.
+ Perform quality review on claims in compliance with audit requirements, service contract requirements, and quality standards.
+ Ensure compliance with state requirements filings. Work with in-house legal and TPA on liability claims.
+ Work with carrier and locations on property damage claims.
Other:
+ Proficient working with internal and external RMIS systems. Understands the data flow between internal and external systems, takes ownership for establishing reports and assessing data obtained and demonstrates the ability to transfer data to meaningful dashboard reports for management.
+ Identifies and advises manager of trends, problems, and issues as well as recommended course of action; informs management of new procedures and ideas for continuous process improvement; and coordinates with management projects for the office.
+ Lead or participate in Risk Management training for the Company.
+ Other duties as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management or insurance. Preferably in a Corporate Risk Management function.
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree required, Business or Finance degree or relevant work experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Operate independently within own scope of responsibility. Handle multiple tasks with competing requests. Able to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
+ Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills to deal with complex business and technical issues
+ Strong communications skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management
+ Solid working knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, Word, and PowerPoint
Universal Pay Verbiage:
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $75,000 and $120,000
