NewtekOne is looking to add a Risk Governance Analyst to its team!
The Risk Governance Analyst plays an important role in assisting the VP Risk Governance Sr. Analyst in faciliating all components of the Risk Framework including: SOX Testing, Enterprise Risk Management, Third Party Risk Management, Model Risk Management, and Business Continuity Planning. This position is a dynamic role with exposure to multiple areas and industries including Banking, Merchant Servicing/Payments, Insurance, and Payroll. The ideal candidate will have experience in data & analytics, risk and controls, and thorough understanding of OCC and FRB regulatory expectations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments across various business functions.
- Identify potential risks, both internal and external, that could impact the organization.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement risk mitigating controls which ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements (SOX, OCC, and FRB)
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Create and update risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ensure that these policy align with industry/regulatory standards, legal requirements, and organizational objectives.
- Communicate policies to employees and provide training on risk related matters.
Reporting and Communication
- Prepare risk reports for senior management and the Risk Committee
- Present findings, trends, and recommendations related to risk exposure.
- Foster open communication channels to discuss risk-related issues across the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with legal, finance, lending, operations, and other departments to ensure a holistic approach to all key risk frameworks (ERM, MRM, TPRM, and ORM)
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as external/internal auditors, and industry peers to stay informed about best practices and emerging risks.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Analytical Thinking: Sr. Risk Analysts must analyze complex data, assess probabilities, and make informed decisions.
- Business Acumen: Understanding the organization's industry, operations, and strategic goals is crucial.
- Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with OCC and FRB laws and regulations and SOX compliance standards.
Communication Skills: Effective communication with diverse stakeholders is essential. - Leadership and Influence: Ability to drive risk management initiatives and influence decision-makers.
- Adaptability: The risk landscape evolves, so adaptability is key.
Education & Certification Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in adopting, maintaining, and reviewing internal controls related to governance, compliance, quality audits, or risk management programs. Public Accounting experience within the banking industry is preferred.
Knowledge: Familiarity with OCC, FRB, and SOX regulations are a must.
Technology: Experience with Venminder, Tandem, and Workiva will be a plus
Certification: Having certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) can be beneficial.
Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000 annually
